Review
I've never read the original novel of Dark Swan by Richelle Mead, but I'm certainly impressed - the graphic novel adaptation looks (and reads) awesome! In this first volume, we are introduced to a kick-ass heroine, Eugenie Markham, who is more commonly known as Odile / the Dark Swan. Eugenie is in truth a
powerful shaman, someone who can harness magic and send otherworldly creatures who cross into the mortal world back to where they come from.
The artwork is detailed and attractive, and I can see that the artist put a lot of effort into creating the flawless images. The minor characters are likable (well, except for the demons) and well-drawn. They serve to improve the flow of the story in their respective ways. We catch glimpses of Eugenie's human life, her characteristics, and her "extra-curricular" activities clearly.
This book is full of action, but contains obscenities, sex and violence. If you like reading urban fantasy or paranormal romance, you'd most likely find this book enjoyable. However, I won't recommend this to teenagers as this book is targeted towards adults.
